Space Environment Summary

During the past 24 hours, solar activity was low. Nine active sunspot regions were on the visble disk without any M-class or above flares produced. The solar wind speed decreased to about 500 km/s. The geomagnetic field was quiet to unsettled. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux at geosynchronous orbit maintained at minor storm levels.

Space Environment Forecast

Within the next three days, solar activity is expected to be mainly low with a chance for M-class flares. The geomagnetic field is expected to be mainly quiet to unsettled. It is expected to reach isolated active levels on 28 Jan due to the effect of the recurrent coronal hole high speed stream. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux at geosynchronous orbit will maintain at minor storm levels.
